School-Based Mental Health

The Interagency Support Council of Eastern Williamson County supports Impact Counseling Services providing professional mental health services are FREE of charge by certified social workers and counselors, a family therapist, a parent coach/family liaison, and a mental health nurse practitioner for students, families and staff in Hutto, Taylor, Granger, Bartlett, Jarrell, and Thrall school districts. Impact Counseling Services in collaboration with Interagency Support Council of Eastern Williamson County has been providing services in these communities since 2007. 


As of April 2024, Impact Counseling has provided approximately 6,500 service encounters to serve over 600 individuals in East Williamson County so far this school year.


Psychiatric services are provided by Kendall Altaffer, Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner, with Balcones Psychiatry and Mental Health, making our services comprehensive. School districts pay a portion of the program cost and provide in-kind accommodations for school-based mental health professionals. Federal, Foundation and Local grants make up the remaining program funds.
