The Interagency Support Council of East Williamson County, Inc. (Interagency) was formed in 1989 to serve as The Community Planning Group for East Williamson County under the Criminal Justice Division, Capital Area Planning Council, and the Regional Councils of Governments. In 2006 the agency received its 501-c-3 status and an office was opened with a Director selected. Since 2007 the Interagency coordinated the East Williamson County School Based Mental Health Project practically funded by the St. David’s Foundation and United Way of Williamson County and participating school districts. Interagency has 35 non-profit organizations as members such organizations as the City of Taylor, Williamson County, Williamson Burnett County Opportunities (WBCO), Taylor Area Ministerial Alliance, Habitat for Humanity, LifeSteps, and many more. These members have given a focus to the vision and mission of the organization while also bringing a variety of expertise, which has led to the organization’s success.
The City of Taylor completed their comprehensive planning process in 2005 and assessment data from the Area Agency on Aging, the Williamson County and Cities Health District, Williamson Burnet County Opportunities (WBCO), Interagency Support Council of East Williamson County Inc. and Scott and White Hospital-Taylor all indicated that Taylor has a higher percentage of persons sixty five and over living in poverty than Round Rock or Georgetown. The assessment also indicated the elderly and low incomes are the most effected by the lack of coordinated social services in East Williamson County. The Taylor Senior Center which opened in March 2009 is a partnership between the United Seniors of Taylor, City of Taylor, WBCOpportunites, Jaycees, Keep Taylor Beautiful, Scott and White Hospital – Taylor, Shepherd’s Heart Food Ministries, and Taylor Area Ministerial Alliance. The Capital Area Agency and Aging is Interagency Support Council’s partner with both funding and program support.
